A match has been played, a game has been won, a team has extended their WSL unbeaten run to 26 games, yet there remains no bigger headline than the return of the Kerr! Sorry, No wait! There is! The return of the Kerr, while scoring her 100th goal for Chelsea FC.

In a game where Chelsea were so far from their slick and unrivalled best, the blues still found a way to victory, despite an Aston Villa onslaught following an early goal from Aggie Beaver Jones! Aston Villa caused the blues a plethora of problems, they could not seem to deal with, and following a stunning equaliser from Villa's Ebony Salmon, Villa grew largely in confidence. If not for Hannah Hampton displaying her unbelievable best, Chelsea could have easily been entering halftime on the end of a 4 or 5 goal drubbing. The second half begins at 1-1 and on steps debutant Alyssa Thompson, to sprinkle her first glimpses of magic onto the WSL. In just a 45-minute cameo Thompson proved that she will be a major issue for for defences across the country and Europe. Alyssa displayed effectiveness off both the left and right wing, which should give Chelsea fans the confidence the she will be a joy to watch regardless of where she plays. Be excited!

Minute 75, on steps Sam Kerr, but this was more than a player simply returning from injury, this was the end to the culmination of 20-months of pain, unscored goals, days in the treatment room and months watching from the stands, unable to influence the results. For Chelsea fans this was the return of a generational talent, a special player, who gave Chelsea fans an incomprehensible amount of joy. A question of what ifs, surely, Chelsea would have won a UWCL had Sam Kerr remained fit? Surely one player could not determine whether a club were able to win the greatest club competition? But that is exactly who Sam Kerr is; a game changer, difference maker and a player who strikes fear into the souls of defenders worldwide. As we had come so accustomed to see, once again Sam Kerr produced the goods for Chelsea, with the same sharpness and presence we were used to, Kerr reminded the WSL, why just she was highly touted as the best striker in the world. 90+3', 20-months out, on the pitch for only 20-minutes, but the number 20 did what she does best and confirmed the victory for Chelsea. How fitting that it was this goal the crowned Kerr's entry into the Chelsea Centurion club, accompanied by only arguably the greatest Chelsea Women's player of all time, in Fran Kirby.

Chelsea have got their superstar back, but not only should WSL defences be worried, but defences around Europe. The band are back together and the lead singer has found her voice again. The Blues go marching on, two wins from two and it can only get better from here!
